Canceled at the end of the 1996-97 school year due to lack of volunteers and mismanagement the Safe Walk program was thought to be dead. However, it is now set to return during the upcoming 1999-2000 school year under the new name “Safe Trek.” The Safe Trek program hopes to return sense of security to campus by providing free assistants to those who need someone to escort them anywhere on campus. We the brothers of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. Zeta Iota chapter intends to volunteer a few hours a week to help insure that the program will not again come to an end again. Reinvented by Whitewater Student Government (W.S.G.) and Zeta Iota’s own, brother Jeramie Winston, the Safe Trek Program will run Monday-Thursday nights, dusk till two in the morning. Again the program aims to provide an escort to any place on campus.
